BOXING – What it is and isn’t

Boxing, labelled "the sweet science" has gone in and out of fashion over the past centuries as one of the most popular sports ever. Boxing icons such as Ali, Foreman, Tyson, Frazier, Delahoya, Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Armstrong, Dempsey, Louis, and more will always be remembered and recognized all over the world. People will always remember boxing just like it is in the movie, "Rocky", as a sport where a man's heart and warrior-mind can overcome a battle lost at all odds and knockout the other opponent to capture victory in the final seconds.

In the real world, boxing is precisely that. We have all been fortunate to have witness the great wars and flashes of brilliance that boxing athletes display in the ring. In boxing, the heart and mind of a human being can overcome anything.

Today, the sport itself is one of the toughest and most grueling exercise for the body to endure. Boxing requires, strength, speed, power, endurance, agility, technique, and a never-quit attitude. Even if you decide not to turn professional or even compete in the amateurs, boxing will still provide years of fulfillment and enjoyment for you.

As a career, boxing is one of the toughest. Champions are often over-thrown in just a year, people will bruise, bleed, disfigure their bodies, and even die in the ring (RARE). You can spend months to prepare for a big fight only to get knocked out in minutes. Some people fight for pride, but there are also many who fight to survive (prizefighting is their way of life). Your income is largely dependant of your promoter, boxing style, and ability to keep an unblemished record, instead of actual skill. Your fans will be quick to crown a new king and the boxing world moves on to the next champion while you age away as an old legend.

As a sport, boxing is STILL one of the toughest, but also one of the most exciting and great exercise!. Boxing will require you to increase your body performance in every possible way, and require that your mind stay tough. Your body becomes turbo-charged suit and you will feel capable of every feat. Your training will take hours everyday as you master basic movements, skills, and get your body into boxing shape.

To compete at the amateur level, you will spend  AT LEAST 3 hours everyday in the gym and running to condition your body and learn the skills to protect yourself in the ring. You will learn how to throw punches hard and fast and in tricky combinations. You will learn how to time your punches and how to pace yourself to keep from tiring out. You will learn how to block, deflect, parry, and duck the punches that come your way. You will be asked to move your head and body and feet quickly around the ring to attack, defend, counter, and evade against your opponent. You will also be asked to stay tough, get up, take a challenge, and to never quit.

Your body will go through tons of different exercises and drills to toughen every muscle up and to increase your performance in every way possible. Everyday in the gym will always be different and you will always have tons of different drills to stimulate your body in a variety of ways. You reach TOP SHAPE and will actually be in condition to perform in almost any other sport.
